An Australian Rustic Wedding at Emu Bottom Homestead

Chantell and James’ wedding had a lovely rustic country feel to it. So much thought had gone into collecting lovely vintage and rustic details leading up to the wedding. Not that Chantell minding trawling through antique stores, where she found gems such as the old school desk which they used as a signing table, wooden crates, an antique clock and tricycle for for the aisle. There was a strong Australian theme, with gum nuts and gum leaves adorning the tables, along with hessian bunting and table runners. Chantell and James even made jam from berries they’d picked for each of the guest to take home with them.

The Emu Bottom Homestead, with its beautiful big old tree in the cottage garden, was a fitting background for their vows. The storm clouds rolled in, providing a cooling and much-appreciated temperature drop, but waited patiently until the conclusion of the ceremony and the group photo in the gardens that Chantell especially wanted. The storm clouds eventually opened up, but only briefly, creating a beautiful and dramatic dark grey sky, which gave the Australian bush setting a sense of drama and depth, and made for some amazing photographs!

I’d love to also share these lovely words from Chantell and James.

“Lizzy and Clara were an absolute pleasure to have in attendance on our wedding day. They were so unobtrusive, many times throughout the day we had no idea where they were shooting!

Lizzy’s bright and bubbly nature was very relaxing on the day (and also during our engagement shoot), making us feel as though we were having a picture taken by a friend. As two camera shy people Lizzy had us feel at ease in front of the camera and made the experience far less daunting.  When the weather went South during the portrait shoot they kept the bride calm and had alternative photo locations in mind.

Overall we can’t speak highly enough about Lizzy & her photography. Thank you Lizzy”
