Portrait Profile Session – Rebecca Smith

Rebecca Smith specialises in helping women feel good about themselves, but she was admittedly self-conscious about having her own photograph taken. When the Melbourne-based boutique owner and life coach needed photos for her new website, she turned to Lizzy C Photography for help.

A little back-story: Rebecca started out her professional life as a lawyer, but she always knew she wanted to do something more creative. After working as a buyer for a large cosmetics retailer, she took the plunge and opened de nimes, a women’s clothing store in Camberwell that specialises in helping women feel good about their bodies. Soon after, she started working as a coach to help other people who were ready to change and improve their lives.

“I think the transition from lawyer to buyer to business owner means I have a unique perspective in terms of helping people build up the courage and the skills to make changes in their own professional lives,” Rebecca said. “I love change and I can see that opportunities present themselves every day — we just need to understand what changes will work best in our lives and go after them strategically and with passion.”

When coaching clients, Rebecca taps into her experience across industries, her ability to work with people from different backgrounds, and the fact that she loves to help people create a life they enjoy. “Couple this with my love of fashion and helping women look and feel fantastic, and the combination can be inspiring and powerful — I hope!” she said.

Rebecca met Lizzy through her own business coach years ago. “I always remembered her warmth, her style, and her sense of humour,” she said. “She had a great business and seemed to connect with like-minded women.”

Rebecca said she was looking forward to seeing us, but dreading the process of being photographed—but she shouldn’t have feared. “Liz has this great way about her, she puts you at ease straight away,” she said after the shoot. “You almost feel like she is not really photographing you. She keeps the conversation going, is funny, sympathetic to you when you feel odd, creative with the use of space, and she offers helpful tips that make perfect sense. The end result blew me away! She is a great photographer. I loved her ability to understand what I needed the photos for, and she was able to capture me and ensured that the shots hit the mark in every respect.”
