It truly is a testament to Jen and James’s relationship that their wedding—which blended Sri Lankan, Chinese, and Australian traditions—went off so seamlessly. The Melbourne couple’s ceremony at St. Joseph’s Church and reception at Quat Quatta was as heartfelt and unique as they are.
The day started at Jen’s parents’ place, which was bursting with colour, family and food for a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. With a little guidance, James’s Sri Lankan family stepped comfortably and warmly into the tradition, making it a lovely fusion of the two families.
James was wowed by his bride at the wedding ceremony. “I still remember when I first saw Jen appear at the back of the church looking amazing in her vintage-looking dress,” he said. He’d actually pointed out the dress in a shop window months before the wedding, not realizing it was the dress she’d be wearing down the aisle.
Apparently the tea wasn’t enough for this caffeine-loving couple, because they convinced us to duck into a coffee shop after heading to the church. They really are Melbournites!
