At Lizzy C, we think that the best portrait sessions are relaxed and fun. You don’t need to prepare like Giselle for your session, but there are a few things you can do to ensure a good result from your photo shoot. To keep things simple, we’ve come up with our top five tips.
Clothing
Choose your outfit the night before and ensure it’s clean and ironed. Choose clothing that you’d wear to an important meeting or job interview. If you’re planning to change your outfit during the session, have it ready to so the change is quick. This will help maximise your shooting time.
Energy
It’s important to keep up your energy throughout the shoot. You’ll maintain your attention better and look more relaxed in your photos. Ensure you’ve eaten before your portrait session, and you’ve had some water enough water so you aren’t thirsty.
Nails
It’s a good idea to give your nails a quick trim and file the night before, as your hands might be in some of your photos. That goes for both men and women. You don’t need to get a full manicure — just make sure your hands look neat and tidy.
Face
If you plan on wearing make-up, you want to achieve a natural, even skin tone with no shine. It’s a good idea for men to groom their facial hair, and everyone to neaten their eyebrows. If you can, brush you teeth before the shoot, too.
Hair
Come to the shoot hair-ready, and bring along any styling tools and products you might need for touchups. If you have long hair, it can be more flattering for wear it out for photos, but if you don’t usually do this then just go with your usual hair style (you want your photo to look like you!).
